The Sikh Coalition has appointed attorney Harleen Gambhir to its executive board, the organization announced.
Gambhir is a civil rights attorney with experience in litigation and public policy. She currently works as a litigator at Elias Law Group, where she represents voters and nonprofit organizations in cases challenging gerrymandered electoral maps, voter suppression laws and other actions affecting democratic processes across the United States.
Most recently, Gambhir served as senior counsel to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts. In that role, she acted as the senator’s lead adviser on administrative law, judicial issues, democracy-related matters, executive power, antitrust, consumer protection and reproductive rights.

Gambhir is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. During law school, she worked with several organizations focused on racial justice and democracy law, including the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Protect Democracy, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Brennan Center for Justice.
She was also an editor of the Harvard Law Review and a member of the Harvard Defenders, a legal service organization that represents low-income individuals in criminal show-cause hearings.
The Sikh Coalition said Gambhir has been active in Sikh community spaces across the country. Her involvement has included participation with the Sikh Center of Orange County, the Hemkunt Foundation, the Singh & Kaur Foundation and the Kaur Foundation.
