Indian American Democratic candidate Rakhi Israni has announced that her campaign raised nearly US$2 million within its first two weeks, signaling early momentum in the race for California’s 14th Congressional District.

In a video posted on X on Feb. 4, Israni thanked supporters and said the fundraising reflected growing enthusiasm for her campaign. “This is more than a campaign. It’s a movement for a fresh perspective, a rejection of divisive politics. Momentum is growing, the excitement is real, and I hope each of you will chip in in whichever way you can to help us reach our goals,” she said.

In an accompanying post, Israni wrote, “I am humbled and grateful. We are hungry for a politics of substance and a fresh perspective. We are done with the divisive rhetoric. Please join us and let’s build this historic movement together.”

An entrepreneur, attorney, educator, and mother of four from Fremont, Israni entered the race earlier this year to succeed outgoing Rep. Eric Swalwell. Her campaign has emphasized community-focused issues such as housing affordability, education, and infrastructure.

Israni also announced endorsements from local elected officials, including Indian American Councilmember Murali Srinivasan from Sunnyvale and Dublin City Councilmember John Moradai.

The Alameda County-based district covers parts of the East Bay and South Bay, including the Tri-Valley cities of Dublin, Livermore, and Pleasanton. The primary election is scheduled for June 2, 2026. She will be facing Democratic candidates such as Aisha Wahab, Melissa Hernandez, Matt Ortega, Abrar Qadir, and Wendy Huang.
