CGI Houston, USISPF host discussions on energy outlook

The discussion noted India's rising energy needs due to industrialization and urbanization.

The Consulate General of India in Houston hosted a closed-door roundtable examining the “Global Energy Outlook 2026” in partnership with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) on Feb. 4.

The event brought together more than 30 senior energy-sector leaders for discussions on long-term global trends and India’s rising energy demand. The discussion focused on balancing energy security with the transition to cleaner technologies.

Consul General of India in Houston, D.C. Manjunath, set the context for the session, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation as India’s energy needs expand alongside its economic growth.



The roundtable featured a presentation by Prasanna V. Joshi, corporate director, economics and energy at ExxonMobil, who outlined long-term projections on global energy demand, supply dynamics, and technology shifts over the next 25 years.

Other participants included senior executives from Chevron, Honeywell, GAIL, Larsen & Toubro, Weatherford, LanzaTech, S&P Global, McKinsey, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

The discussion highlighted sustained growth in India’s energy requirements, driven by industrialization, urbanization, and increasing electricity consumption. Speakers underscored the importance of reconciling reliable and affordable energy supply with emissions reduction, including the role of public policy, market-driven solutions, and innovation.

The roundtable formed part of ongoing efforts by CGI Houston and USISPF to provide a platform for industry leaders, experts, and policymakers to engage on issues shaping the shared global energy future.
