Indian-origin researchers join JACS Au advisory board
The appointments were announced as part of the journal's introduction of its sixth Early Career Advisory Board for 2026

Two Indian-origin researchers, Aslam Shaikh of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar and Srinivasan Ramakrishnan of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, have been appointed to the 2026 Early Career Advisory Board (ECAB) of JACS Au, the Journal of the American Chemical Society Gold.
The appointments were announced as part of the journal's introduction of its sixth Early Career Advisory Board for 2026. The board includes 25 researchers from institutions across multiple countries.
Shaikh confirmed his appointment in a post on X.
"I'm honored to share that I've been selected to serve on the @JACS_Au Early Career Advisory Board (ECAB) 2026," he wrote.
"I thank Chief Editor Christopher John for this opportunity."
Ramakrishnan is a condensed matter physicist whose research focuses on experimental ultra-low temperature physics. He previously served as director and distinguished professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and recently joined the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune as a distinguished professor. He is listed on the board with IIT Bombay.

According to the editorial announcing the appointments, the ECAB is appointed annually and is made up of researchers who typically earned their PhDs three to 10 years earlier and are actively engaged in the scientific community, including through scientific publishing.
The 2026 board includes five returning members from the 2025 ECAB and 20 newly appointed members selected from a pool of nominees.
The journal said ECAB members advise JACS Au by identifying emerging topics and research trends in chemistry and related fields. They also frequently serve as reviewers for manuscripts submitted to the journal.
In addition, board members nominate recently published JACS Au papers for recognition as "ECAB Selects" papers. At the end of each term, those selected papers become nominees for the journal's annual JACS Au Outstanding Paper Award, with the winning authors receiving a publication voucher that waives open access publication fees for a future ACS Au family journal publication.
In the editorial announcing the new board, the journal said, "We are pleased to welcome our newest collection of ECAB members to our team and congratulate them on their selection for this board."
