Hockey: India beats Germany to record its first win of the FIH Pro League
The win does not change India's standing in the points tally as it continues to remain in the second-to-last position with seven points.

India could not have asked for more. After felicitating its most-capped player, Manpreet Singh, for donning his 413th cap for the country, India raced to its first win in 10 games in the FIH Pro League in the Netherlands on June 17.
The win does not change India's standing in the points tally as it continues to remain in the second-to-last position with seven points. India lost six of its previous nine games, drew three and got a bonus point as it recorded a penalty shootout win in one of the three drawn games.
Pakistan, playing in its first-ever FIH Pro League, is at the bottom without a point after 10 games. India and Pakistan play each other on June 23 and 26 in London in the next round of the event.
It was Mandeep Singh who gave India a positive start with a good goal in the seventh minute. Six minutes later, Shalandra Lakra made it 2-0. By the time the teams broke for refreshments, India had taken its lead to 3-0, with Nilakanta Sharma chipping in with a beautiful goal.
Germany drew consolation when it got its only goal of the game through Raphael in the 45th minute. For Germany, it was its sixth loss in 10 games. With 11 points, it was placed in sixth position, while Belgium has taken a massive lead in the points tally with 28 points from 10 games as it has won nine matches and drawn one.
