Amb. Kwatra hails IIT diaspora alumni in California

In his keynote address at the IIT 2026 Global Conference, Kwatra highlighted the deep ties between the two nations.

Indian Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra said that the IIT diaspora alumni have made exceptional contributions in driving entrepreneurship, research and leadership in both countries.

Addressing the IIT 2026 Global Conference held in Long Beach, California, from April 22 to 25, Kwatra highlighted the deep ties between the two nations.

The event, celebrating 75 years of IITs, was a global gathering of visionaries, entrepreneurs, technologists and changemakers. It featured speakers including Sadhguru, Jay Chaudhry, Guy Kawasaki and Vivek Lall, among many others.

The organizers described the event as an "opportunity to connect with over 2,500 leaders from around the world and explore the future of innovation."

Kwatra, who joined the event remotely, delivered the keynote address for the event. In his virtual address, Ambassador Kwatra highlighted India’s rapid transformation under the vision of "Viksit Bharat 2047," emphasizing the nation’s strong economic growth, technological advancement, expanding innovation ecosystem and rising global leadership.

In an X post, the Indian Consulate in Los Angeles said, "He (Kwatra) noted how India’s growth story is creating new opportunities in manufacturing, digital economy, startups, clean energy, advanced research, a growing semiconductors ecosystem, resilient and reliable global supply chain networks, stronger international partnerships for mutual benefits, rising bilateral trade, and robust public service delivery that is improving lives at scale."



Hailing the IIT diaspora alumni as a "living bridge between India and the United States," he also hailed the group for fostering new collaborations, enabling investment, and connecting highly skilled talent that is shaping a shared future of technology and prosperity.

He also commended the IIT alumni community for its exceptional contributions in driving entrepreneurship, research and leadership in both countries.

Highlighting what the community needs to do for India, he said, "With increased focus on technology, manufacturing and increasing the skill intensity of India's skilled talent, your expertise would be absolutely crucial in achieving many of these objectives."

He continued, "Let this conference spark new collaborations and recommit this extraordinary and highly skilled community of our IIT friends and colleagues to shaping a future that serves both our nations well in their objectives."
