Maakoday, president of the Global Citizen Forum and co-founder of the Boston Center of Excellence for Health and Human Development, was honored for his ability to integrate ancient wisdom with modern innovation to create scalable models for sustainable development.

Accepting the award, Maakoday stressed the importance of holistic development, “We need to strive to create meaningful synergies between ancient wisdom and current innovation to build truly integrated ecosystems for mental, spiritual, and physical (MSP) health and well-being. When people, process, and purpose come together, transformation becomes possible for all, beyond barriers of gender, religion, or nationality.”

He also called for placing women’s leadership at the heart of global transformation efforts and cited Indian thought leaders such as H.R. Nagendra, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Sadhguru Ramdev, and Sudhir Parikh for their contributions to wellness and global cooperation.

The ceremony also included high-level discussions focused on expanding international collaborations to improve human development outcomes, especially in the Global South and G20 nations.

The event was held in conjunction with the International Day of Yoga, a global observance led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and now celebrated in over 150 countries.
