Poddar is new deputy mayor of Jersey city

Keshav Poddar has been sworn-in as Jersey City’s deputy mayor for housing and economic development.
Poddar, a former economic policy advisor to the White House during the Biden-Harris administration, was sworn-in by Mayor James Solomon. Affirming his Indian roots, he took oath on a Bhagvad Gita.
Announcing his appointment, Mayor Solomon said, "Keshav will lead our efforts to build genuinely affordable housing, attract businesses that create good jobs, and make sure every deal the city makes serves the public interest"

He added that Poddar has built his career around affordable housing and advocating for working families, spanning courtrooms, state institutions, and federal policymaking.
Poddar expressed his commitment to the new role and remarked, "Incredibly excited and honored for this opportunity to serve the people of Jersey City!"
A graduate of Yale Law school and Dartmouth College, Poddar has also served as a Counsel to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office and as Policy Advisor to then Rhode Island Governor, Gina M. Raimondo.
