Our City Forest appoints Tara Sreekrishnan as executive director
Sreekrishnan now assumes leadership as the nonprofit continues its mission of expanding urban forestry and environmental education across Silicon Valley.

Silicon Valley-based nonprofit focused on urban forestry and environmental education, Our City Forest (OCF) has appointed Tara Sreekrishnan as its new executive director.
The announcement follows the retirement of founder, president and CEO Rhonda Berry, who is stepping down after leading the nonprofit for 34 years. The organization's board of directors announced that Berry will transition to the role of board advisor, while Sreekrishnan takes over leadership of the nonprofit.

Sreekrishnan, the co-founder of Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action (SVYCA), a nonprofit that empowers young people to shape environmental policy, brings about a decade of experience in public policy, community engagement and public service. She has previously worked in legislative offices at the city, county and state levels, according to the organization.
A public policy professional, community organizer and education advocate who serves as a trustee on the Santa Clara County Board of Education, representing Trustee Area 2, Sreekrishnan was appointed in 2021, becoming the first Indian American to serve on the board. A Cupertino native and Mills College graduate, she has built her career around public service and civic engagement.
She has also served as a legislative aide and deputy chief of staff to California State Sen. Dave Cortese, focusing on public policy, and has held leadership roles with Silicon Valley Clean Energy and Friends of Deer Hollow Farm.
The leadership transition comes as Our City Forest marks more than three decades of community-based environmental work. Our City Forest will honor Berry's contributions at its "Growing Our Future" fundraising gala on Sept. 25, where the organization will celebrate her legacy while ushering in its next chapter under Sreekrishnan's leadership.
