Ontario police charge Uber driver with sexual assault
Halton police allege the accused sexually assaulted a woman twice near Burlington GO Station.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) identified the accused as 25-year-old Mandeep Singh, who was arrested on July 26 and held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton. Police said Singh was employed as an Uber driver at the time of the alleged offences.

According to an HRPS media release, the incident occurred on June 16 at about 5:15 p.m. in the south parking lot of Burlington GO Station at 2101 Fairview Street in Burlington, Ontario.
Police allege an adult woman was approached by Singh and engaged in conversation before he sexually assaulted her. Investigators said the woman immediately left the area but was allegedly followed by Singh to a nearby business, where she was sexually assaulted a second time.
HRPS said the victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
The investigation was led by the service's Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit, which subsequently identified Singh as the suspect. Police have released his photograph and are asking anyone with information, or anyone who believes they may have had a similar encounter with him, to contact investigators.

In its release, HRPS noted that sexual assault is defined as any touching of another person without consent where the touching is sexual in nature or violates the victim's sexual integrity. The force also reminded the public that there is no statute of limitations for reporting sexual assault in Canada, meaning incidents can be reported regardless of when they occurred.
Police encouraged victims of violence or sexual assault to seek support through the HRPS Victim Services Unit, which provides assistance and referrals. The force also directed survivors to its Sexual Assault Information Guide, available through its official resources.
The investigation remains ongoing, and HRPS said it is continuing to determine whether there are additional victims.
The charges against Singh have not been tested in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
