A New Zealand native Instagram influencer, Nate Hamon, backed the Sikh community after a Sikh nagar kirtan in south Auckland was disrupted by protesters linked to Destiny Church.
Hamon hailed the Sikh community for their selfless service and remarked, "If your church makes you loud and angry and cruel, but the people you are attacking are feeding the hungry, the problem isn't their faith, it is your ignorance."
His sharp rebuke came after Christian Maoris performed the traditional Haka dance in protest against the Sikh community.

Hamon described the protest as ironic and pointed out that Maori ancestors were not Christians and the religion arrived with colonization. He added, "When you frame this as defending Christian values, you are literally standing on land shaped by people who practice something else."
Son of local coordinators for a charity, Hamon contrasted the protests with the charitable works of the Sikh community and said, "Every week, like clockwork, members of the local Sikh community turn up with trays of food. They made it, they prepared it, they paid for it. No photos, no sermons, no press, they drop it off, they smile, and they quietly walk away."
He added, "They don't even want recognition. And that's Sikhism in action, selfless service. Feed people first, argue theology later."
Hamon ended the video post slamming the protesters, saying: “If your church makes you loud, angry and cruel, while the people you are attacking are peacefully feeding the hungry, then the problem isn’t their faith, it’s your ignorance.”
