New Jersey mother charged in killings of two sons

Priyatharsini Natarajan has been charged with two counts of first-degree Murder, and one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Hillsborough Township Police has arrested 35-year-old Priyatharsini Natarajan from her New Jersey home, accused of murdering her two sons, aged five and seven, on Jan. 13.

The 9-1-1 dispatch recieved a call from Natarajan's husband who claimed to have found his children unconscious upon returning home from work and alleged that his wife did something to them.

Responding officers, along with medical personnel attempted to revive the children but could not bring them back to life.

A postmortem examination is scheduled to be performed by the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify the victims and determine the cause and manner of death.

As per a statement by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, "The investigation has revealed that Natarajan caused the deaths of her two children on Tuesday, January 13, 2026."

Natarajan has been charged with two counts of first-degree Murder, and one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and is being held at Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
