Netflix unveils ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ trailer

A poignant tale of love, identity, and emotional rediscovery, the movie explores equal companionship and heartfelt second chances.

Aap Jaisa Koi streams from July 11 / Netflix

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming Hindi feature film Aap Jaisa Koi, (translated as “Someone Like You”) set to stream exclusively on the platform from July 11, 2025.

A heartfelt romantic drama, the movie stars actors R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh. It is directed by Vivek Soni (Meenakshi Sundareshwar) and produced by Dharmatic Entertainment.

The movie tells the story of Shrirenu Tripathi (Madhavan), a reserved 42-year-old man, and Madhu Bose (Shaikh), a fiercely independent woman, whose chance encounter gradually unfolds into a nuanced exploration of companionship, gender expectations, and emotional vulnerability.

Set between Jamshedpur and Kolkata, the film navigates themes of tradition, self-discovery, and the quiet power of “barabari wala pyaar” — a love rooted in mutual respect and emotional equality.

The film marks Madhavan’s return to the romance genre in a role he describes as “quiet, awkward, and deeply human.” Speaking about his character, he said, “Shrirenu is one of the most complex characters I’ve played — someone who longs for companionship and closeness, but doesn’t quite know how to ask for it, yet he is rich with emotion underneath.”

Shaikh adds, “Playing Madhu was incredibly special. We often associate strength and confidence with masculinity, but Madhu embodies these qualities with such softness and femininity… Through this film, I got to dive into different shades of love, and oddly enough, it felt quite therapeutic.”

Supported by a cast including Ayesha Raza, Manish Chaudhari, and Namit Das, Aap Jaisa Koi offers a heartfelt reflection on modern relationships, family expectations, and the journey toward emotional liberation.
