Mourning PIO Soldier from Queens killed in Jordan

Dear editor,
Sgt. Angel Rampersad gave her life for the country she loved, the USA. She displayed courage, nationalistic pride and commitment by contributing to the security and strength of her adopted country. Her unselfish contribution and ultimate sacrifice as an immigrant prove that America is a country where diversity undoubtedly adds to its strength. That should make us all take pride and be emboldened.
Sgt. Rampersad, 28, was one of three U.S. soldiers killed last week amid an Iranian attack in Jordan. A flag-draped transfer case delivered to Dover Air Force Base on Wednesday held her remains.
Sergeant Rampersad was born in Trinidad and moved to New York when she was about 5 years of age, with her mother and an older sister. It is reported that she taught herself to play drums as a child and played them enthusiastically as she became more proficient. She also sang in a church choir, ran track and played softball at Forest Hills High School in Queens.
We mourn your passing and thank you for your sacrifice, Sgt. Rampersad. Our condolences to your loved ones and friends.
