Missing person Avtar Singh found dead in California

Singh has been a sevadar and langri at the Gurdwara Sahib for more than two decades and is survived by his wife and their six-month-old triplets.

Avtar Singh, a 57-year-old Sikh man from Tracy, California, was found dead on Feb. 20, days after he was reported missing by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

Singh was reported missing on Feb. 17 outside a gurdwara on W. Grant Line Road in Tracy. During the investigation, surveillance footage showed a white SUV and three unidentified individuals dressed in dark clothing forcing Singh to enter the vehicle against his will at around 2:30 p.m.

Three days after he was taken against his will, Singh’s body was found near Lake Berryessa by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office noted that its detectives are working to investigate the case and identify those responsible for the act.

A GoFundMe page raising monetary support for Singh’s family noted that Singh was a dedicated sevadar and langri at the Gurdwara Sahib for more than two decades. He is survived by his wife and their six-month-old triplets.
