The Miss World Organization denied claims made by Milla Magee, the Miss England 2025, about her experience in India.

Magee, who withdrew from the 72nd Miss World Festival citing a family emergency, later told The Sun that she felt objectified during her stay and was made to feel “like a prostitute.” She accused organizers of encouraging contestants to entertain wealthy male sponsors.

Additionally, Magee criticized the event as “outdated” and compared the contestants' roles to that of performing monkeys, suggesting they were being treated as entertainers.

Magee, a 24-year-old lifeguard and CPR advocate from Cornwall, had initially cited her mother’s health as the reason for her departure from the event.
In a statement, Julia Morley, chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, addressed the claims, stating that “These claims are completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality of her time with us.”

She added that Magee’s withdrawal and immediate return to England were arranged by the organization with “compassion,” prioritizing the well-being of the contestant and her family.

To counter the claims, the organization released unedited videos recorded during Magee’s time in Telangana. In one such video, Magee is seen praising her experience.

“From the get-go, as soon as we arrived and we touched down off of the plane, we didn't have to lift a finger. I was asking if there was anything I could do to help and you were all so accommodating. Everything here, the hospitality, the gratitude I have for you all has been so overwhelming, and I'm so grateful for you hosting us here,” Magee said in the video.

She also spoke about Telangana’s cultural richness, saying, “I think that Telangana has so much to offer, whether it’s the beautiful temples and things to explore, as well as the food, the cuisines. I was a bit apprehensive at first because I don't do quite well with spicy foods and so I was quite nervous, but to be honest, since being here, I've been eating too much.”

Following Magee’s departure, Charlotte Grant, the first runner-up of Miss England, was appointed as her replacement. Grant arrived in India on May 21 and was “warmly welcomed into the Miss World sisterhood,” the organization said.

The 72nd Miss World Festival, held in Telangana from May 7 to May 31, features over 100 contestants from across the globe. The event showcases the region’s cultural heritage while promoting the pageant’s mission of “Beauty with a Purpose.”
