Meet Vaibhav Bhaskar, Indian-origin student who broke Florida GPA record

His record-breaking achievement has prompted Hillsborough County to overhaul its weighted GPA system beginning with the Class of 2027.

An Indian-origin student set a Florida high school record after graduating with an unprecedented 11.99 weighted grade point average, a milestone that has prompted changes to the district's grading system.

According to local reports, Vaibhav Bhaskar, 17, graduated as valedictorian of George M. Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, near Tampa, with a weighted GPA of 11.99, eclipsing the previous Florida record of 11.84 set in 2022.
