Prominent Silicon Valley venture capitalist Asha Jadeja Motwani said investors risk missing a major opportunity if they delay committing capital to India.
“For the first time I am absolutely convinced that if I don’t invest in India now I will miss the boat….,” Jadeja Motwani, who returned from attending the recently concluded India AI summit, wrote in a post on X.

Her remarks came after attending the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where she interacted with Indian AI founders and observed significant U.S.-India engagement. The experience, she indicated, strengthened her view that the country is at a pivotal moment in its technology development.
In the Feb. 25 post, Motwani said post her realization she has taken important steps such as “investing in a few Startups,” and “a few Venture Capital funds.” She went one step further, even purchasing her own residence in India in anticipation of frequent trips to the country.

Motwani has consistently described herself as an “India Optimist.” She founded the Motwani Jadeja Family Foundation in 2012 to support startups, innovation, education, and collaboration between the United States and India in technology and policy.
She has backed more than 200 technology startups, many with cross-border operations linking India and the United States. She has also promoted grassroots entrepreneurship efforts such as MakerFest in India. In 2018, she said the Indian startup ecosystem had “evolved very nicely,” pointing to increased participation from angel investors and venture capital firms.
