Indian-origin senior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Aditi Rai received the 2025 Marian Ivers Community Service Leadership Award.
The award recognizing her contributions to women’s empowerment and technology-driven community engagement was presented at the Women’s Fund of Omaha’s “Lead the Change” luncheon last week.
A computer science major and student body vice president, Rai has led several initiatives connecting STEM education with underserved groups. She founded a mentorship program linking female high school students with professionals in the tech industry—facilitating workshops, coding sessions, and career guidance for more than 100 participants.

“Receiving this award is a profound validation of the work I’ve done to uplift others,” Rai told the university press. “It’s inspired by trailblazers like Marian Ivers, and I hope to continue fostering opportunities for women to lead in tech and beyond.”
Rai has collaborated with local nonprofits to promote digital literacy among women from immigrant backgrounds. Her outreach programs have trained over 200 women, providing essential technology skills to help overcome employment barriers and increase workforce participation.
Named after Marian Ivers, the first executive vice president of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, the award honors her legacy centered on advancing women’s leadership and civic engagement.
The award, presented annually by UNO’s Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, carries a $2,000 grant to support academic and professional development expenses.
