Pataaka, a modern Indian small-plates restaurant, is set to open in Midtown Atlanta on Aug. 22, bringing regional Indian flavors to the city's growing dining scene.
The restaurant, led by Atlanta-based chef Anish Nair, will open for lunch and dinner at the base of Sora, a luxury residential tower within Spring Quarter, a mixed-use development by Portman. The development spans a full city block and combines residential, office, retail and dining spaces.

According to local reports, Pataaka will feature a menu inspired by Indian regional cooking while incorporating Nair's experience with New American cuisine and modern French techniques. The restaurant's name comes from the Hindi word for "firecracker," reflecting its focus on an energetic and celebratory dining experience.
The menu will feature small plates and contemporary interpretations of Indian dishes. Previously announced offerings include jackfruit bruschetta, tamarind barbecue lamb ribs, tandoori duck breast, sakura chicken and red snapper pollichathu, a fish preparation traditionally cooked in banana leaves. The menu is designed for sharing and sampling across different regional influences.
Pataaka will have 113 seats, an outdoor patio and a mezzanine area for private dining, according to local reports. The restaurant's interiors are being designed by The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry.
Nair is also behind Jai Ho Indian Kitchen at Krog Street Market. He previously operated a full-service Jai Ho location in Atlanta's Morningside neighborhood before closing it during the pandemic. His new restaurant expands on his work with Indian cuisine while moving toward a more contemporary, upscale format.
Pataaka will join several other restaurant concepts at Spring Quarter, including Japanese restaurant Sozou and Mexican restaurant Habaneros. The development also includes the historic H.M. Patterson Home and Gardens, which Portman is preserving and reimagining as a retail and entertainment destination.
