An Indian origin man has been sentenced to seven years and nine months in jail by the High Court in Glasgow, Scotland, on charges of rape.
The man, 47-year-old Naijil Paul, threatened to fire a colleague if she refused to perform sexual acts with him, in 2018. Paul also sexually assaulted two other young women while working as a care home manager in North Lanarkshire.

After the charges were brought against him, Paul fled to India in 2019. He fled to Kochi in Kerala, claiming his father had been ill, before being arrested in February 2025 and extradited to Scotland.
Paul pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced to seven years and nine months in prison. Apart from his jail term, Paul will also be supervised for a further two years on his release.
Additionally, he will be named on the sex offenders list and is banned from going near any of his victims.
