Indian born UK-based journalist Shruti Tripathi Chopra has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of her contributions to financial journalism and championing diversity, equity and inclusion in the field.
Chopra is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Dow Jones publications ‘Financial News’ and ‘Private Equity News’.

Dating back to the 13th century, the award honors individuals who have contributed to the city's social, cultural or public life. The award has previously been bestowed upon the likes of Jawaharlal Nehru and Shabana Azmi, among many others.
Expressing gratitude, she said, "I am deeply honoured to be awarded the Freedom of the City of London, an honour with a history of over 800 years."
Joined by her husband, daughter and her parents who travelled to the U.K. from India, she added, "I dedicate this to my parents, who travelled from India to share this moment. They taught me that girls are meant for greatness, ambition, and changing the world."
Officiated by the Clerk of the Court, Chopra was recognized at the Guildhall in London.
Chopra holds a Bachelors' degree in journalism from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and a Masters' degree from Cardiff University.
