The Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, organized an outreach event on the sidelines of CERAWeek 2026 on March 24 in Houston, highlighting India’s evolving energy landscape and opportunities for global investors.

CERAWeek 2026, being held from March 23 to March 27 in Houston, Texas, is themed “Convergence and Competition: Energy, Technology and Geopolitics,” focusing on how AI, geopolitical rivalries, and the energy transition are reshaping global supply chains.

The Consulate General of India in Houston said in a post on Facebook that the event brought together policymakers, operators, and energy experts, strengthening collaboration between the two countries’ energy markets and opening new avenues for partnership and investment.



Consul General D.C. Manjunath welcomed participants and highlighted India’s “upstream reforms and the growing strategic convergence in India-U.S. energy cooperation.”

Srikant Nagulapalli, director general of hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, delivered the keynote address, outlining India’s policy vision, including the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy framework, Open Acreage Licensing Policy bid rounds, Discovered Small Fields opportunities, deepwater and ultra-deepwater prospects, and a transparent, data-rich National Data Repository.

Nagulapalli said these initiatives are aimed at creating a “competitive, investor-friendly ecosystem.”

Officials from the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons also presented on upstream policy reforms, fiscal incentives, and the availability of extensive geological and seismic datasets through the National Data Repository and the data center at the University of Houston.

The presentations were aimed at helping global operators make informed and secure investment decisions.
