Featured speakers include S. Paul Kapur, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State; D.C. Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston; Atul Keshap, president of USIBC and senior vice president for South Asia at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; John Cypher, vice president for International Investment and Trade at the Greater Houston Partnership; and Jagdip Ahluwalia, executive director of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston.
Attendees will be able to engage directly with policymakers and business leaders, raise issues affecting their companies in Texas or India, and hear updates on developments including ongoing trade negotiations and the economic impact of the conflict in West Asia.
The Houston gathering follows the launch of the Great States Initiative in Atlanta in April. The program was created to strengthen state-level economic engagement between the United States and India by connecting policymakers, businesses and regional stakeholders across both countries.
The event comes as U.S.-India economic ties continue to expand. Bilateral trade in goods and services now exceeds $200 billion annually, and the two countries have set a target of increasing trade to $500 billion by 2030. Cooperation has also grown in sectors including technology, manufacturing, energy, defense and supply-chain resilience.
USIBC said the initiative is intended to foster new partnerships, encourage investment and provide deeper insight into the regional drivers of economic growth in both countries.
