Tanishq launches first store in Virginia

Tanishq now has a total of eight stores across the United States, with plans to open two more flagship stores later this month.

Indian jewelry brand Tanishq formally launched its first store in the DMV area on Dec. 2, with an aim to offer a range of gold and diamond jewelry to the vast Indian diaspora in the region. With the launch, the Tata Group brand now has eight stores across the United States.

The brand is also set to launch two more flagship stores in Orlando, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts, later this month.

Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India’s Ambassador to the US was the chief guest at the event while other dignitaries included Kannan Srinivasan, Virginia state senator and Michael McCabe, resident director, Tata Sons North America.

Located in Tysons, the store had initially opened its door to customers on August 8. Speaking about the overwhelming response, Arun Narayan, senior vice president of category, marketing and retail at Tanishq said that the “journey has been energizing and heartening.”

“We are fortunate to have almost 80,000 customers in the US cumulatively. The journey has far surpassed our dreams. A big shout out to the Indian diaspora, who have been with us,” Narayan said.

Highlighting the importance of Indian companies increasing their footprint in the US, Suchita Sonalika, director and head-North America at the Confederation of Indian Industry said that around 160 Indian companies had invested $40 billion in the US economy.

“This is an amazing story of Indian companies expanding their footprint in the US. Indian companies’ resilience and our investments staying strong in this country. We are so happy to see this Indian strength of investment stays strong in this country, allowing us to build a stronger narrative of our investments, of our job creation and of course local impact in the US,” Sonalika said.

Spread over an area of about 5000 square feet, the store boasts of over 5000 unique pieces.

Amrit Pal Singh, Titan Company Limited Business Head - North America, said that the store in Tysons was one of the largest in the country.

“The store offers a wide range of jewelry which caters to various occasions - be it for everyday wear, for traditional events or for cocktail ones. We have a complete range that is being offered to customers,” Singh said.

According to the company, the brand aims to open over 30 luxury boutiques across the US. While earlier this year, Tanishq launched new stores in Redmond, Washington and Atlanta, Georgia, it also has stores in New Jersey, Houston, Dallas and Chicago.
