Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella hailed Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen’s friendship and mentorship hours after Narayen announced his decision to part ways with Adobe.
Adobe announced on March 12 Chief Executive Officer Narayen’s decision to transition from his position once a successor has been appointed.
Narayen’s exit from the role comes after an 18-year stint as Adobe’s top executive, trailblazing flagship products like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and InDesign.

Narayen’s contributions and said, “Congrats Shantanu, on a legendary run at Adobe! You’ve built one of the most important software companies in the world, and expanded what’s possible for creators, entrepreneurs and brands everywhere.”
He added, “What has always stood out to me is the empathy you’ve brought to the creative process and the example you’ve set as a leader. Grateful for your friendship, mentorship, and for all you’ve done for Adobe and for our industry.”
Narayen is among the first Indian American CEOs in top global tech leadership positions, paving the way for the long list of Indian American tech CEOs who run top companies like Microsoft, Google, IBM and YouTube, among many others.
