Mamdani says Trump voters helped elect him: ‘Cost of living, always’

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said on Nov. 21 that many Trump voters were instrumental in his victory, crediting their shared frustration with the soaring cost of living and saying the same anxieties that boosted Donald Trump’s numbers in the city also propelled his own campaign.
Mamdani said a key part of his winning coalition came from New Yorkers who had voted for President Donald Trump — a group he said was driven overwhelmingly by economic pain and the rising cost of living.
