The New York Police Department has initiated investigations into racist anti-Indian, anti-African American and antisemitic graffiti found at Dibner Library at the NYU Tandon School for Engineering.

The graffiti features slurs and abuses aimed at Asian Indians and Jewish people along with the N-word and swastikas.

The incident came to light after a photograph of the graffiti went viral on social media. The photos were shared online by 'Jewish on Campus at New York University Instagram' page and has since caused significant backlash.

The police has taken cognizance of the offence and has designated the incident as a hate crime, as per the Washington post.

This marks at least the third antisemitic hate crime investigation this semester. Earlier incidents include Weinstein Hall's door being defaced with antisemitic graffiti in early September and a student's mezuzah stolen from their dorm.
