Indian cricket team honored by High Commission in London

The High Commission of India in London hosted a reception for the Indian men's cricket team at India House during the squad's tour of the United Kingdom, celebrating the team's achievements and cricket's role in connecting communities.
The reception, held on July 18, was hosted by the High Commission and attended by India's High Commissioner to the U.K., Kumaran Periasamy, members of the Indian team, support staff and representatives of the Indian diaspora.

In a post on its official X account, the High Commission said the event celebrated not only the team's on-field accomplishments but also cricket's ability "to unite millions across borders and generations."
The post tagged the Ministry of External Affairs, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and members of the Indian squad.
Vice-President Rajeev Shukla addressed the gathering, reflecting on memorable moments from India's cricketing history. Head coach Gautam Gambhir also spoke at the event.
Players and support staff interacted with members of the Indian diaspora and posed for photographs with Periasamy, High Commission officials and their families.
Captain Shubman Gill, vice-captain Shreyas Iyer and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna answered questions from members of the diaspora during the reception. Senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were also in attendance.
The event took place ahead of the third and deciding One Day International between India and England at Lord's Cricket Ground. The three-match series was level at 1-1 after India won the opening ODI and England claimed victory in the second match.
England batter Joe Root remained unbeaten in the series entering the decider, scoring 76 not out and 99 not out in the first two matches.
India House, the headquarters of the High Commission of India in London, regularly hosts official receptions for visiting Indian delegations, cultural programs and sporting events involving the Indian diaspora.
