FIA Chicago briefs community on upcoming I-day events at picnic
The gathering united Indian American organizations, strengthened community ties and highlighted upcoming India Independence Day celebrations.

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago hosted a community picnic, bringing together Indian American organizations, community leaders and volunteers ahead of its India Independence Day celebrations.
The event served as a networking platform for representatives of cultural, religious and civic organizations while providing updates on FIA's upcoming community initiatives and annual patriotic programs.
Addressing attendees, FIA president Hemant Patel said the organization, established in 1980, serves as an umbrella body representing Indian American organizations in the Chicago area and works to promote Indian culture and community engagement. He also invited community members to participate in the federation's upcoming India Independence Day events.

The gathering was attended by FIA trustees, executive committee members and representatives from numerous Indian American organizations, including Brahm Samaj, Shree Ram Group, MokshDham, United Senior Pariwar, Jain Mandir, ShreeSanatan Sewa Foundation, Vishva Hindu Parishad of America, Ekal, Hindu Women Network, Andhra Association, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Sewa International and Maharashtra Mandal, among others.
During the event, FIA trustee Rashmi Patel provided an update on the progress of the MokshDham funeral home project. Patel, who also serves as founder and president of the ShreeSanatan Sewa Foundation, outlined the foundation's vision and ongoing community initiatives.
Representatives from sponsoring organizations also participated in the event, sharing information about services available to senior citizens and the broader community.
The program included musical performances by FIA executive Vira Adimulam and Hemant Patel, along with a community Antakshari session hosted by FIA vice president Rohit Joshi.
FIA acknowledged the contributions of its volunteers and sponsors, including Rapid Rasoi, which sponsored refreshments for attendees.
Concluding the event, Hemant Patel thanked participating organizations, sponsors, volunteers and community leaders for their support, saying the gathering reinforced collaboration within the Indian American community as FIA prepares for its upcoming India Independence Day celebrations.
