India Day celebrations return to Boston Harbor on Aug.9
FIA–New England is hosting its fifth annual parade and festival celebrating Indian heritage and India-U.S. friendship.

The Foundation of Indian-Americans (FIA)–New England will host its fifth International India Day Parade & Festival at Boston Harbor on Aug. 9, bringing together thousands of Indian Americans and local residents to celebrate India's 79th Independence Day and the growing ties between India and the United States.
Organizers said the day-long event will showcase Indian culture while highlighting the contributions of the Indian American community to New England through a parade, cultural performances, community exhibits and family-friendly activities.

"This year, we are not just celebrating India's Independence—we are celebrating the shared democratic values, diversity, and friendship that unite India (at 79) and the United States (at 250)," said Abhishek Singh, president of FIA–New England. "We invite everyone to join us as we create history together at Boston Harbor and celebrate the Festival of Freedom."
The parade will feature cultural floats, traditional music and dance performances, marching groups and community organizations, alongside participation from civic, business and community leaders.
The festival will also include live entertainment, Indian cuisine, youth performances and exhibits showcasing India's cultural heritage. Organizers said community leaders, veterans, first responders and volunteers will be recognized for their service and contributions.
According to FIA–New England, the annual celebration has grown into one of the region's largest Indian Independence Day events, drawing participation from elected officials, diplomats, educators, business leaders, nonprofit organizations and representatives of cultural associations.
Organizers said the event aims to strengthen cultural understanding while celebrating the Indian American community's contributions to the social, educational, cultural and economic fabric of the United States.
