IANT celebrates 77th Republic Day of India

Consular General Mr. Manjunath applauded the event and praised the organizers and volunteers for their efforts in supporting initiatives that promote unity, integrity and patriotism.

India Association of North Texas (IANT) celebrates 77th Republic Day of India on Jan. 31 at SLPS Community Center in Irving. 

The day long annual event featured lots of spectacular cultural showcase, including traditional Indian folk, regional, classical, spiritual, and modern dance and music performances.

Each year, the event draws 80-100 performances with 900-1200+ performers and choreographers ranging in age from 6 years and above, making it a truly community inclusive and family-friendly celebration.

IANT 63rd President, Mr. Mahender Rao, emphasized the mission of hosting such events to strengthen “Unity and togetherness” among the community members. The celebration was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests such as Consular General of India, Mr. D.C. Manjunath, Dallas County Judge Honorable Clay Lewis Jenkins Richardson Mayor Amir Omar, Frisco City Councilman Burt Thakur, Frisco City Council place 4 Jared Elad, Community Outreach Representative for Dallas Police Chen Yuan, Dallas Police Department Community Affairs Commander Major Paul Thai, Frisco ISD Board of Trustees- Place 1 Suresh Manduva, along with other city representatives.

Many different types of food stalls and vendor booths graced the celebration with free gifts and hampers. The highlight of the event was a vibrant parade with Indian and American flags proudly waving in the hands of delegates and attendees.
