BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha won the ‘Health & Well-Being’ award at the London Dangoor Awards 2025, for its remarkable service to Greater London’s communities through the BAPS wellNESS project.
The London Dangoor Awards (formerly known as the London Faith & Belief Community Awards) recognise the hidden gems of London’s faith communities, bringing forward the projects that uplift society through service, compassion, and collaboration.
The BAPS wellNESS project focuses on the significant health inequalities experienced by British South Asians, who suffer higher rates of diabetes, heart disease, and mental health challenges. The initiative promotes practical, sustainable habits that incorporate physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha received the award at the Royal Society of Medicine by Dr David Dangoor CBE, founder of the Dangoor Education Foundation, alongside Bushra Nasir CBE DL, Chair of His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith.
Speaking after being awarded the honour on behalf of BAPS, lead volunteer Dr Tanvi Raghvani said:
“This recognition belongs entirely to the volunteers who give their time and expertise to help others. BAPS wellNESS is about empowering our community to take small, meaningful steps towards better health so that each person can lead a more purposeful, joy-filled life.”
The BAPS wellNESS project is built upon four core pillars of health: Nutrition, Exercise, Stress Management, and Sleep, drawing inspiration from Mahant Swami Maharaj, and it aims to encourage participants towards healthier, more balanced lives by integrating evidence-based guidance with spiritual wisdom.
The project involved over 30 volunteers, who delivered expert-led talks, interactive workshops, personalised well-being support, and practical resources and successfully engaged thousands of community members through in-person activities and digital resources.
