A row has erupted after a U.S.-based influencer mocked the death of an Indian man in Canada, using racially charged language that triggered widespread outrage on social media.

Responding on X to a post about the death of Prashant Sreekumar, Andrew Branca referred to the deceased as “another Indian invader of Canada.” on Dec. 26. In a separate reply, he wrote, “I note that she and her husband could have easily avoided the shitty Canadian healthcare by staying in Mumbai and enjoying the shitty Indian healthcare,” while sharing an immigration graph without citing a source.

Prashant Sreekumar, 44, was admitted to Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton on Dec. 22 after suffering severe chest pain at work. He died after waiting more than eight hours to receive medical attention, according to his family.

His wife alleged hospital staff informed them that initial ECG results did not indicate a serious issue and asked them to wait. During this period, Sreekumar was given Tylenol as his blood pressure continued to rise. Nurses later attempted resuscitation, but he died at the hospital.

Following the incident, Branca posted additional remarks targeting Indians, writing in one reply, “You, an Indian national, fled the shit hole of third-world India to live in first-world Canada.” In another post, he said, “Indian migration is a societal herpes of filth and trash and human faeces they wish to bring to America.”

The comments drew sharp criticism online. One user wrote, “A man died and all you can think of is hate and dancing on his grave. You’re a despicable, disgusting excuse of a man.”

Another user slammed, “Building a following on hate? You seem too old for such desperate tactics. If this is just a money grab, don't bother, you’ll run out of time before you ever see the payoff"

Branca, who hosts The Andrew Branca Show and describes his content as pro-America and pro-Constitution, has previously used slurs against Indians and disparaged Indian culture and food. He has defended his remarks by stating that “America is for Americans.”

The controversy has renewed scrutiny of his social media activity, where repeated anti-India posts have drawn criticism and intensified calls for accountability over hate speech targeting immigrant communities.
