Americans4Hindus formally launched its Boston chapter on Oct. 25 in Boston, Massachusetts, appointing Lakshmi Thalanki as the chapter’s first president. The national organization works on civil rights issues, representation, and community engagement among Hindu Americans.

The organization said the new chapter is part of its effort to strengthen its grassroots presence in regions with growing Hindu American populations. The Boston chapter will focus on advocacy, youth involvement, community outreach, interfaith dialogue, and educational efforts.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Lakshmi Thalanki as the President of our Boston Chapter,” said Geeta Sikand, Vice President, Communications, Americans4Hindus National Leadership. “Her passion, commitment to community service, and leadership skills make her the ideal person to build a strong team and advance our mission in Massachusetts.”

Sikand said the chapter’s goal is to ensure Hindu Americans “have a voice in civic life and are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.”

In her remarks, Thalanki said she intends to work with students, parents, professionals, and faith leaders across the Greater Boston area. The chapter plans to advocate for accurate representation of Hindu heritage and practices in schools and public institutions, and to encourage civic participation among Hindu Americans.

“I am honored to take on this responsibility and humbled by the trust placed in me,” Thalanki said. “Boston has a vibrant and growing Hindu community, and together, we will work to foster unity, strengthen our voice, and ensure that Hindu American contributions and concerns are recognized and respected throughout Massachusetts.”

The launch event was attended by community members, volunteers, and supporters, including Americans4Hindus founder and chair Dr. Romesh Japra.

The organization said it is continuing to seek volunteers and partners as the Boston chapter begins its operations.
