Atlanta resident Mathew Philip announced plans to contest the Georgia State House (District 25) elections, with a campaign centered on prioritizing people over politics.

A first generation american, business executive, pastor and community leader, Philip will be contesting the Republican primary on May 19.

He comes with over three decades of corporate experience in senior management roles, where he led teams, managed budgets and focused on strategic planning, operational excellence and fiscal responsibility.

An MBA holder from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, he has previously served as a homeowners association board member and president for HOAs in the area, working with neighbors to address community needs, manage shared resources responsibly and promote strong local leadership.

He also serves as the pastor of a multicultural church in Cumming, where he works closely with families from many different backgrounds who share the same hopes for safe communities, strong schools and opportunity for their children.

Talking about his decision to run for public office, he said, “My heart has always been for the people of this community.”

Philip continued, “Leadership is about listening, serving and working together to solve problems that affect everyday families.”

He noted that a key concern he hopes to address, if elected, is the increasing cost of living and the challenge of finding affordable housing.

Philip believes that “when people are struggling with everyday expenses and housing affordability, it is time for leaders to step forward and focus on solutions.”

He further said that his desire to give back to the community is rooted in the idea of responsible citizenship and giving back to society, ideals he acquired from his parents, according to Philip.

He continued, “Forsyth County deserves leadership that values service, accountability and opportunity. I am running to ensure every voice is heard, including those who often feel overlooked.”
