A felicitation ceremony was held at Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Loyadham in Valrico, Florida, on June 13 to mark Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming India's longest-serving elected prime minister, according to organizers.

Organized under the guidance of Sadguru Shastri Ghanshyamprakashdasji Swami, the gathering drew hundreds of devotees and community members from across the region, organizers said.

Among the guests were physician and philanthropist Dr. Kiran Patel, Global Dialogue Foundation chairman Bawa Jain, former BJP USA president Chandrakant Patel, and Tampa Gujarati Samaj president Sandeep Patel. Representatives of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, including Yashwant Pathak, Nainan Desai, Gaurang Vaishnav, and Vinod Patel, also attended, along with other community leaders.

Speakers reflected on Modi's political career and his more than decade-long tenure as prime minister. Several highlighted initiatives associated with his government, including the Digital India program, the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and the revocation of Article 370's special constitutional status for Jammu and Kashmir. Organizers said speakers also referenced the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas" while discussing the government's priorities.

Addressing attendees, Ghanshyamprakashdasji Swami spoke about Modi's years in public office and his role in India's development. According to organizers, he described the prime minister's leadership as centered on public service and national development.

The event reflected the continued interest many Indian Americans maintain in political and social developments in India. Community organizations across the United States frequently host gatherings tied to major milestones, elections, cultural observances, and visits by Indian leaders, underscoring the close connections many diaspora members retain with their country of origin.

Temples and community centers have increasingly served as venues for such events, bringing together Indian Americans from different professional, regional, and religious backgrounds. Organizers said the Florida gathering was intended to provide an opportunity for community members to recognize a milestone they viewed as significant in contemporary Indian politics.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Indian national anthem and community participation, according to organizers.
