IOC USA holds national strategy meet in Long Island

The Indian Overseas Congress USA held a national meeting in Long Island on March 28, bringing together senior leaders and members from across the United States to outline strategy, expand organizational reach and prepare for upcoming electoral efforts in India.
The meeting, attended by representatives from multiple states and regional chapters, focused on strengthening grassroots mobilization, improving coordination and reinforcing internal discipline. Leaders highlighted preparations for the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, calling for unified, ground-level engagement.
The session opened with remarks by Mohinder Singh Gilzian, who welcomed attendees and thanked members for their continued involvement. Participants observed a moment of silence for the late Harbachan Singh in recognition of his contributions.
Leaders from chapters representing Punjab, Haryana, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with U.S. regions including Indiana, California, Texas, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Washington, D.C., Michigan and Illinois, addressed the gathering. They emphasized coordinated strategy and expanding the organization’s footprint nationwide.

In his keynote address, Gilzian described the current period as critical for the organization’s growth. “This is a defining time that demands unity, discipline, and decisive action,” he said. He added that the group had developed into “a strong and vibrant force across the United States” and urged members to expand its reach and strengthen internal structures.
George Abraham said the organization had evolved into a global network spanning 32 countries and described the U.S. chapter as a leading contributor. He said member participation from across the country reflected the organization’s strength and momentum.
Pradeep Samala outlined plans to expand leadership structures and improve coordination across national and state chapters, with an emphasis on outreach and membership growth.
Sam Pitroda addressed the meeting via Zoom, calling the current moment “a critical juncture.” He said values including democracy, freedom, unity and diversity “must be actively defended and strengthened,” and urged members to focus on execution and engagement.
Senior leaders reiterated their commitment to democratic values and inclusivity, highlighting the importance of outreach to diverse communities.
The meeting concluded with a resolution thanking Gilzian for his leadership and service, and with a renewed focus on expanding the organization’s national presence and coordination efforts.
