Fresno State honors Akhil Kanodia for teaching excellence
Kanodia won for his innovative, hands-on teaching approach, fostering entrepreneurship and real-world business skills among Fresno State students.

California State University (Fresno State) has recognised Akhil Kanodia with the 2025 Provost’s Award for Outstanding Lecturer, honoring his teaching methods and entrepreneurial leadership.
Kanodia, a clinical professor of practice in entrepreneurship at Fresno State, is widely recognized for his hands-on, real-world teaching approach. One of his signature initiatives is the course “Managing the New Venture,” where students take full ownership of the Craig School of Business Student Store.

Under Kanodia’s guidance, the student-led venture successfully launched 10 limited-edition products branded with Fresno State and Craig School logos. The initiative generated $5,640 in revenue with a 27 percent net profit.
In addition to his classroom work, Kanodia plays a vital role in fostering entrepreneurship across campus. He serves as the acting director of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and leads the planning committee for the upcoming Fresno State Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit.
Kanodia holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, an M.S. in electrical engineering from University of Southern California (USC), and a B.E.from Nagpur University, India.
The Provost’s Awards were established in 1993 to recognize the outstanding teaching, research and service that is central to the mission of Fresno State. Honorees provide students with a stimulating environment that fosters learning and affirms the university as an intellectual and cultural leader in the Central Valley, the university said in a statement.
