On Oct.4 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, WHEELS Global Foundation will host its much-awaited Gala—an evening of celebration, inspiration, and purpose. A gala, at its heart, is an evening that brings people together to celebrate shared values, forge new connections, and inspire collective purpose. For WHEELS, this Gala is an opportunity to engage alumni, professionals, and partners in a mission much larger than any one of us—creating scalable impact for India’s underserved communities.

This year’s Gala will convene over 250 accomplished leaders—IIT alumni, doctors, lawyers, finance professionals, public servants, and community partners. Local collaborators such as Northwell Hospital and the Indian Consulate in New York are also joining hands. Together, this gathering reflects the shared vision of serving humanity and addressing urgent development challenges not just in India, but globally.

The Gala will showcase a distinguished line-up of leaders and performers who embody the spirit of innovation and impact. Among them is Sharath Talk, an IIT Bombay alumnus and successful entrepreneur who has built pioneering ventures in power infrastructure and manufacturing. Joining him is Arvind Sanger, a globally recognized leader in the oil and gas hedge fund industry, whose expertise and accomplishments have made him a respected voice in finance. Adding a creative dimension to the evening is a celebrated music composer and IIT alumnus, who has crafted a powerful composition dedicated to India’s rivers—an evocative piece that inspires respect and restoration for these lifelines. The event will also welcome several IIT Directors alongside distinguished dignitaries, including Mr. Binaya Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York, underscoring the Gala’s stature as a platform for thought leadership, cultural expression, and collective action.

Since its founding in 2006, inspired by the vision of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, WHEELS (Water, Healthcare, Education, Energy, Livelihoods, Sustainability) has harnessed the power of over 500,000+ IIT alumni worldwide, along with CSR entities, Civil Services officers, NGO partners, and corporate professionals, to pioneer transformative technology-led initiatives at-scale. These programs address India’s most pressing rural challenges—from safe water access and mass malnutrition to digital learning, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and rural livelihoods.

Through this Gala, WHEELS aims to expand its network of committed partners, inspire new champions of change, and raise vital resources to accelerate ongoing initiatives. By leveraging its Pan-IIT ecosystem and allied professionals, WHEELS is working towards the shared objective of technology-driven transformation of 20% of India’s “Rurban” population (180M+ people) by 2030, in support of India’s vision of becoming a developed economy by 2047.

We urge all who care about creating lasting change for India’s future to join us at the Gala. Visit www.wheelsglobal.org and register for the event. Together, let’s celebrate, connect, and transform lives.
