Darpan Kapadia funds $5,000 aid to attract students nationwide to William & Mary
Scholarship funds will also be used to make financial aid offers more competitive for non-Virginia applicants.

Indian origin alumnus Darpan Kapadia, a 1995 graduate of William & Mary, a public research university in Williamsburg, Virginia, has committed funding for a new initiative that will provide $5,000 each to out-of-state students as part of the university’s enrollment strategy. The gift, made with his wife Erica Olan, is the first of its kind to support William & Mary’s admission efforts.
The initiative is designed to expand recruitment beyond Virginia, beginning with the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, before moving to other regions across the country. Plans include increased visits to high schools, more participation in college fairs, and the hiring of a regional admissions representative. Scholarship funds will also be used to make financial aid offers more competitive for non-Virginia applicants.
