The INDVest Forum NYC, in collaboration with StartoPreneur360, hosted a virtual session on Sept. 20, 2025, examining India’s long-term economic trajectory under the theme “India Movement @ 2047.”
The discussion brought together investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and diaspora leaders to explore how India could reach a projected GDP of over $35 trillion by the centenary of its independence.
The event was hosted by Ravi Karkara, Founder of INDVest Forum NYC, and co-hosted by Shubham Dhoot, Founder and CEO of StartoPreneur360. Panelists included Prof Michael Kugelman, Senior Advisor for India and South Asia at Horizon Engage and Senior Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada; Cdr (Retd.) Kartik Gopal, Co-Founder of Jamwant Ventures and the Global Air Water Generation Initiative; and Cdr (Retd.) Navneet Kaushik, Co-Founder of Jamwant Ventures.
Speakers highlighted India’s young workforce, its rapid digital transformation, and programs such as “Make in India” as key drivers of growth. They also pointed to urbanization, foreign investment, and consumer spending as contributing to an anticipated annual GDP growth rate of 7–8 percent.
“India’s ascent is not just economic—it’s a geopolitical rebalancing that will redefine global supply chains and alliances,” said Prof Michael Kugelman. He added that with strategic investment in infrastructure and renewables, “India won’t just join the $35 trillion club; it will lead it, provided we prioritize inclusive policies that bridge urban-rural divides.”
Cdr Kartik Gopal underlined the role of entrepreneurship, stating, “From jugaad ingenuity to unicorn factories, India’s entrepreneurs are the engine of this $35 trillion vision. Jamwant Ventures is committed to backing ventures that harness deep tech, turning our young talent into global innovators who solve real-world challenges.”
Focusing on urban growth, Cdr Navneet Kaushik said, “As 45% of Indians urbanize by 2036, we must innovate last-mile infrastructure to ensure no one is left behind. Through Jamwant, we’re investing in solutions that blend technology with equity, making India’s growth story resilient and inclusive for marginalized communities.”
The hosts reflected on the wider significance of the moment. “This ‘India Moment’ is a clarion call for global investors,” said Ravi Karkara. Co-host Shubham Dhoot emphasized digital skills, noting, “The true dividend lies in policy-industry collaboration that empowers our youth to drive not just growth, but equitable prosperity by 2047.”
The session was part of the LinkedIn Event Series #TheIndiaMoment @IND2047, which began in August 2025 and continues to bring together stakeholders to debate India’s economic and social transformation.
