More than 100 attendees gathered at the Nanuet Library on Nov. 23 for a Hindustani classical recital headlined by Indian classical sitar maestro Shahid Parvez Khan.

The program was jointly organized by Arts from India and Bharatiya Kala Kendra, Inc., reflecting their continued efforts to deliver Indian cultural programming across the United States.

Opening remarks emphasized the role of Indian classical music in cultural preservation and in strengthening community connections.

Khan, representing the Etawah Gharana, showcased a style refined through rigorous riyaz and a gayaki-ang approach. He was joined by tabla artist Kadar Khan from the Kalavant Center in New York, whose rhythmic input provided a solid foundation for the performance.

Event coordinator Ajayveer Singh thanked Nitin Vyas of World Vegan Vision and INT of USA and Sonalee Vyas of Jani Dance Company, noting their support in staging the program. Singh also pointed to Arts from India’s ongoing classical recitals, dance events, workshops, and virtual productions offered during the pandemic.
