The network is designed to provide media outlets, conference organizers, and educational institutions with access to Sikh experts who can offer insights on a wide range of topics.
"The lived experiences of the Sikh community are vast and diverse," said Harman Singh, executive director of the Sikh Coalition. "We look forward to elevating these experts across more than 20 fields and will work hand in hand with them to continue raising the Sikh profile, in media and beyond."
Founded in the aftermath of the Sept 11 attacks in 2001, the Sikh Coalition has been at the forefront of advocating for Sikh civil rights in the United States. The organization has actively engaged in legal advocacy, working towards legislative reforms to safeguard Sikh civil rights, and has offered legal support to individuals facing discrimination or hate crimes based on their Sikh identity.
Earlier initiatives include the Sikh Advocate Academy, which trains community volunteers in advocacy, and participation in interfaith education panels to ensure Sikh perspectives are included in broader discussions on inclusivity and academic freedom.
