Sahith Theegala’s golf comeback seals top-10 finish

Indian‑American professional golfer Sahith Theegala delivered an impressive performance at The American Express golf tournament with a bogey‑free 7‑under 65 in the final round on Jan. 25 to secure a tied‑eighth finish on the PGA Tour.

Theegala finished the event at 21‑under par, concluding a year‑long top‑10 drought and marking his first Top‑10 result since the 2024 Tour Championship, hinting at a return to form after a challenging 2025 season hampered by injuries.

After an initial slow start to the tournament on Jan. 22, with an opening‑round 1‑under 71 leaving him tied for 118th place, he turned things around by steadily climbing the leaderboard with consistent play over the next three rounds, including two bogey‑free efforts and several key birdies.

On Jan. 24, Theegala produced three birdies on the front nine and four on the back, closing with two birdies in his final three holes to reinforce his strong finish.

While Theegala celebrated a career‑boosting result, fellow Indian‑origin golfers Akshay Bhatia and Sudarshan Yellamaraju were unable to make the cut for the weekend rounds.
