Indian-American community organizations highlighted the contributions made by Indian-Americans in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about India and Indians in America.
In a Truth Social post, Trump described countries like India and China as “hellholes” while criticising U.S. birthright citizenship and immigration. The post also echoed claims about Indians dominating parts of the U.S. tech workforce, adding to the backlash.

The Indian government condemned the remarks as “uninformed, inappropriate and in poor taste,” stressing they do not reflect the broader India–U.S. relationship. The episode has triggered political and diplomatic reactions, with critics calling the rhetoric offensive and harmful to immigrant communities
The National Federation of Indian American Associations (NFIA) expressed its disapproval of Trump’s comments in a letter addressed to President Trump and described the post as appearing to “question the loyalty of Indian Americans to the United States.”
Highlighting the contributions of the Indian community in the United States, NFIA President Satish Parikh and Former President Dr. Subash Razdan, said in the letter, “The Indian American community has consistently demonstrated its commitment to this nation through contributions across public service, healthcare, innovation, business, and national security.”
They added, “These contributions reflect not only professional excellence but also a deep and abiding belief in the values that define America.
The community organizations also remarked that Trump’s claims cast doubts on the allegiance of the community and it, in turn, risks “creating unnecessary division and misunderstanding.”
The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) went a step further and urged Trump to delete the posts immediately.
CoHNA, in a statement on X, described Trump’s comments as “xenophobic and racist” and highlighted that the post only “exacerbates the current hatred faced by our communities.”
The organization added, “From the brutal beheading of Chandra Nagamallaiah, to physical attacks on temples, to a rash of surging online hate, our communities are already hurting.”
It continued, “From Silicon Valley to Main Street, from small businesses to advances in sciences and medicine, from manufacturing to our armed forces, Indian and Hindu Americans have contributed tremendously to our great nation.”

A similar demand was echoed by the Hindu American Foundation. Urging Trump to delete the “hateful, racist screed targeting Indian and Chinese Americans”, HAF noted, “Endorsing such rants as the president of the United States will further stoke hatred and endanger our communities, at a time when xenophobia and racism are already at an all time high.”
We are deeply disturbed by @POTUS sharing this hateful, racist screed targeting Indian and Chinese Americans.
