Indian American trans-rights activist Kylie Madhav endorsed Indian American Democrat candidate for New York state comptroller’s office, Raj Goyle.
Madhav, who is a Freelance Consultant & Equity Strategist for Underserved Communities, hailed Goyle as a future “comptroller who has morality and integrity”,
Emphasising that the trans community is done settling for scraps, she said, “I don't just pay attention to what politicians say. I look at what they've actually done. That's why I'm so proud to work with Raj Goyle, Democratic candidate for New York State Comptroller.”
Madhav went on to list Goyle’s advocacy efforts for the trans community. Noting that his efforts speak for themselves, Madhav pointed out that Goyle stood up against “the most extreme anti-equality voices in the country”, the Westboro Baptist Church, during his time in the Kansas legislature.
Madhav added that Goyle was an “early and outspoken supporter of marriage equality in the 90s, in the South, even when he was getting crushed for it.”
Goyle was also voted as legislator of the year by Wichita Pride in 2008, and since coming to New York in 2011, he has continued his advocacy for queer South Asian communities in NYC.

Madhav has advocated for the community’s rights for close to two decades. While she primarily works in New York, she has also led teams and coordinated efforts in Mumbai and Chennai.
Goyle responded to the endorsement and said on X, "Kylie Madhav is a celebrated trans rights activist who has fought from New York to Mumbai for the rights and freedoms of the LGBTQ+ community."
He continued, "I'm beyond grateful to have her on our team, fighting for a better a New York for all."
Goyle previously served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, where he was one of the youngest members elected.
Goyle is also a co-founder of Indian American Impact, an organization focused on increasing political representation within the community. He said the group was created to provide support he lacked when he first ran for office.
As the state’s chief financial officer, he hopes to focus on fixing what he calls New York’s broken financial system. He said his top priority would be investing state funds within New York rather than across the U.S. and overseas.
