Priyal Patel to receive Truman State Distinguished Service Award

The honor recognizes alumni and friends for their professional accomplishments, volunteerism, and service to the university and community.

Truman State University will present the Distinguished Service Award to Indian American finance executive Priyal Patel at its Homecoming Celebration on Oct. 17 in the Student Union Building.

The honor, part of Truman’s long-standing Dogs of Distinction program, recognizes alumni and friends for their professional accomplishments, volunteerism, and service to the university and community.

Patel, a seasoned finance leader, currently serves as chief financial officer for Bayer’s North America Cluster. She joined Monsanto in 2008 and transitioned to Bayer after its acquisition, holding several leadership roles including vice president and Treasurer for North America, director of Investor Relations, and Finance Business Partner for the Crop Science division. 

In her present role, she oversees the company’s regional financial strategy, liquidity management, and capital markets operations. According to Bayer’s announcement, Patel’s leadership has been central to the company’s treasury transformation and its resilience amid market volatility. 

Prior to that, Patel began her career in telecommunications as an accountant and external reporting manager.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Patel serves on several internal and external boards, including the Bayer Fund Board, PAC Board, and Bayer U.S. Patient Assistance Foundation Board, as well as Gateway180 and the KIPP St. Louis Board. Her board work underscores her commitment to education, community development, and social equity.

She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Truman State University, where she was active in the student ambassador program and Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
