Penn State’s Bendapudi appeals lawmakers for funding in committee hearing

The state’s investment in the university has not increased since 2019.

Penn State University president Neeli Bendapudi on March 11 urged Pennsylvania lawmakers to increase public funding to the university, describing it as essential for keeping tuition affordable and preparing students for the state’s workforce needs.

Appearing before the Pennsylvania House Appropriations Committee during the legislature’s annual budget hearings for the state’s four state-related universities, Bendapudi said, “Greater investment in Penn State is vital to our access and affordability mission and to offering innovative academic programs that align with Pennsylvania’s workforce needs.”
