The Peace, Accountability, and Leadership PAC (PAL PAC), an organization rallying in support of Palestinian causes, has announced its endorsement of congressional candidate from San Francisco, Saikat Chakrabarti.

Chakrabarti, an Indian American political activist and former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is contesting for California’s 11th Congressional District, challenging longtime incumbent Nancy Pelosi in the 2026 election.

Announcing its endorsement, PAL PAC said on X, “PAL PAC is thrilled to announce our endorsement of @saikatc! Saikat is a principled leader who stands up for Palestinian rights and is dedicated to human rights. We are ready to build grassroots support for Saikat and his commitment to Palestinian freedom.”

Reacting to the endorsement, Chakrabarti said, “I’m proud to have PAL PAC’s endorsement.”

Highlighting the significance of organizations like PAL PAC, he said the group backs candidates seeking to “stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza” and acts as an “oppositional force to AIPAC.” He added that while most voters oppose sending more money to Israel’s military, there remains a bipartisan consensus in Congress to continue such funding.

PAL PAC noted on its website that a defining priority of the organization is to “elect champions of human rights for all, who will demonstrate clear, courageous, and consistent leadership on one of the morally defining political and human rights issues of our time.”

PAL PAC describes itself as an organization dedicated to building a world where human rights, dignity and international law are universally upheld. It primarily focuses on “ending Israel’s ongoing human rights abuses against Palestinians and stopping U.S. complicity in and backing of Israel’s apartheid system, illegal theft of Palestinian land, and genocide against Palestinians,” according to its website.

Chakrabarti, who was born to Indian Bengali parents in Texas, is a progressive and vocal advocate for structural reforms within the Democratic Party.

The Harvard-educated software engineer and political strategist rose to prominence during the 2016 presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders, where he played a key role in organizing grassroots technology efforts.
